50 days to go! As I am sure most people that know me are aware, I am running the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon to raise money for the Scout Association. Well, there are now only 50 days to go to race day so I thought I would do a bit of a write up to try and drum up some more support. Why Am I Running? I got an email from the Scouts describing a number of Challenge Events that were running, and for which they needed volunteers. Well, I quite enjoy running so when I saw the RPF Half Marathon, I thought why not. Now although that was my first reason for running, the main reason is obviously to raise money to support the Scouts. I have been...

Since mid March, I have been going to Torfaen Freerunning Academy at the Torfaen Academy of Gymnastics in New Inn. I’ve been quite interested in the concept of Parkour/Freerunning for a while so I thought it would be fun. Although I am quite a bit older than the vast majority of the people there, I have been welcomed and supported brilliantly since I joined. I have been working on vaults and flips from the start and on 26 April, I completed my first unsupported backflip . So here’s the video (granted this was taken the following week when I had cleaned it up a bit).

My Epic Quest (This post has been inspired by Steve Kamb at Nerd Fitness) I recently read an article on Nerd Fitness where Steve Kamb had set out his goals for “levelling up” his life. He used the metaphor of Role Playing Games to make the concept manageable and put together a list of challenges or quests that could be completed to advance from one level to the next. He then decided that each quest would be worth 20% experience towards the next level, there would also be Master Quests that equated to 100% experience, and this became his ‘Epic Quest of Awesome’. I thought this was a pretty good idea, so using the same concept, I have come up with my own Epic Quest. It’s no different...

George's First Year George is now a year old so I thought it might be time for a bit of reflection on how the first year has gone . For Rosie & I, it has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but I think we’ve been very lucky. George has generally been good as gold since the day he was born. Don’t get me wrong, he cries, screams and tests the boundaries just like any other kid, but I think we may have had things a little easier than most. Most of the time he seems to be contented and happy, but he is definitely learning the art of crying for attention! We’ll have to keep that one in check I think. George also seems to be...
